The Moon and the Pen

The sky shook
and Hymns descended
I took to page
My pen, full of flight
I heard a song
Beauty amongst lips
With trumpets loud
and Violins’ screech
The clouds parted
and beyond the beaming light
Came the moon, her cloak full of might
The trails of angels could be seen
from Castle to Sky, and horizon to horizon
She shined her light through
Into the deep blue night
And in the midst of my despair
Came the hope I now has writ
I need more pages
To describe how I felt
Overwhelmed and Engulfed
upon a sea of clouds
Rattling and fierce
Thunder struck and rain now fell
To bless my head, with oil, shot and shell
Lest did I know
On the other side of the hill
Lay siege a tyrant
Upon his mad bearded head
He lay siege to Heaven
and sought Her keys and ornate gates
The moon now quivered
and shone her light
Upon mad tyrants brow
His eyes soon filled with slight
He fell to his knees, and cursed the sky
He took his own life
appalled at the horror he had spewed
The rain fell softly
and I with my pen
Wrote pages till the end
I now see with heart strung string
The violins fade
and the trumpets are remiss
The clouds cover the moon
and all is returned
To darkness and slumber, my pen now frozen
To this day I know not
Why the moon blessed me so
I have pages by the book
So too numbered are my poems
For that night shall inspired
hundreds more to come
For I am a poet
Heed my writ and word, undone
